Power of the Poppy is now available
My fifth book, Power of the Poppy: Harnessing Nature's Most Dangerous Plant Ally
, is now available on Amazon and elsewhere. It's a departure from my usual Vodou-oriented writing, but not so large as one might think. Because there was little available material on Haitian Vodou by and for serious practitioners, I wrote The Haitian Vodou Handbook
. And when I started doing research on plant shamanism and plant allies, I found that one of our most important plant allies had been almost completely ignored. I also found that nobody was talking about the quid pro quo which is such a part of a shaman's work with allies. They aren't just benevolent green spirits waiting to teach you wisdom - like the lwa, they demand payment for their services.
I really enjoyed writing and researching this book, and hope that my readers will enjoy it as well.

New Review on Amazon.com: Runes: Theory and Practice by Galina Krasskova
I have just posted a review of Galina Krasskova's Runes: Theory & Practice
on Amazon. Galina has written a number of excellent books on Heathenry and the Northern tradition, including Northern Tradition for the Solitary Practitioner and Exploring The Northern Tradition
. But in this case she has really outdone herself. Galina is one of the first writers to treat the runes not as tools for divination but as sentient beings which not only tell us about the world and the future but actively create and shape it. Her work is profound yet clearly written and accessible to anyone who wants to put in the work to truly master the Runes for divination and magic. I can't recommend this one highly enough and congratulate New Page Books on putting out yet another great tome.

New Review on Amazon.com: Strategic Sorcery by Jason Miller
I have just posted a new (and very positive) review of The Sorcerer's Secrets: Strategies in Practical Magic, the latest book by Jason Miller, on Amazon.com. Jason is also the author of the highly-recommended Protection & Reversal Magic: A Witch's Defense Manual (Beyond 101)
and is one of the few writers today offering solid, down-to-earth practical advice on magic for magicians. His work is the antithesis of fluffy: it's no-nonsense stuff which will help aspiring sorcerers to break out of the trap of talking about magic without ever accomplishing any.
Jason's material is accessible to intelligent newcomers but also contains plenty of thought-provoking material for more experienced folks. His work is a purgative to all the pablum and silliness which clogs so many occult bookshelves and a ward against those who would turn sorcery into mental masturbation and wooly-headed thinking. If you haven't read any of his books yet, you owe it to yourself to pick them up.
